Setting Up Your Molecular Hydrogen Water Pitcher
Your pitcher should arrive with water sealed around the electrolyzers at the bottom of the interior of the pitcher. If the electrolyzers are dry when you receive your pitcher, please contact Pureffect Customer Support.
When you receive your hydrogen water pitcher:
- Remove the seals from the electrolyzers.
- Dispose of the water inside the pitcher.
- Rinse the pitcher.
- Partially fill the pitcher with distilled water.
- Run the backwash cycle (follow the instructions in the “Backwash Cycle” tab/section).
Making Molecular Hydrogen-Infused Water
The electrolyzers in the hydrogen water pitcher produce bubbles of pure hydrogen that dissolve into the water as they travel through it.
It takes approximately 10 minutes per liter to saturate the water. For best results, use cold water, as it can hold more dissolved hydrogen.
The pitcher has a total capacity of 2 liters:
- When half full, it takes 10 minutes to saturate the water.
- When completely full, it takes 20 minutes to saturate the water.
To set the pitcher for 10 minutes of hydrogen production, press the button at the bottom of the handle once.
To set the pitcher for 20 minutes of hydrogen production, press the button at the bottom of the handle twice.
Pressing the button again while hydrogen is being produced will turn the unit off.
Backwash Cycle
Backwashing reverses the polarity of the electrolyzers, helping to clean the electrodes of oxide buildup, mineral scale, and biofilm. This helps maintain the efficiency and longevity of the electrolyzers.
If you use distilled water that has been stored for some time, we recommend running the backwash function every 2–3 weeks to remove any potential biofilm. If you use freshly distilled water from a recently cleaned distiller, running the backwash cycle once a month is sufficient.
To start the backwash cycle, press and hold the button for 3 seconds. The pitcher does not need to be completely full for this process, although we still recommend using distilled water during the cycle.
After the cycle ends, dispose of the water, rinse the pitcher, and refill it with distilled water.
Important Notes
The molecular hydrogen water pitcher has two SPE/PEM electrolyzers at the bottom. To optimize electrolyzer performance and longevity, we recommend using only distilled water.
The PEM portion of the electrolyzers is a membrane that must remain saturated. An unsaturated membrane is not electrically conductive, and running electricity through it may damage the PEM. For this reason, it is important to always leave some water in the bottom of the pitcher.
- If the pitcher has been dry for several days or weeks, partially fill it with distilled water and let it sit for 30–60 minutes.
- If the pitcher has been dry for only a few hours, partially fill it with distilled water and let it sit for 10–15 minutes.
After allowing the electrolyzers to soak, run the backwash cycle to help pull water through the PEM and saturate it more evenly. Then dispose of the water, rinse the pitcher, and refill it with distilled water.
Warranty
